Description
The Hickinbotham Vineyard sits in an oasis-like setting at the top of a long ridgeline that traces the northern end of the McLaren Vale wine region
This is a revered pocket of McLaren Vale wine country and is home to some of the region’s oldest vines and most prized vineyards that are renowned for making elegantly powerful and long-living red wines.
The Hickinbotham Vineyard sits on geology known as the Belair Group, named after a nearby township. At 700 million years of age, this region is host to some of the oldest geology in the region.
The character of the Hickinbotham Vineyard is profound and produces famously resilient wines with highly expressive character. The breathtaking views from the top of the site down over the vines towards the Onkaparinga Gorge command ancient ground that is the key to the innate power this site produces. The cooling breezes funnel through from the hills above and the coast below and lend a desirable freshness to the wines.
