Hidden Hollow

Hidden Hollow is a unique natural wonder located in the heart of Western Australia's wheatbelt.

It is situated in the side of Mt Walker, a sprawling granite formation approximately 34km east of the small farming town of Narembeen. This secluded rock amphitheatre is a perfect stop to break your long journey to Wave Rock and stretch your legs. It is easily reached by following a short trail that takes only a few minutes of walking from a small parking area off the sealed road.

Hidden Hollow is a small hollow on the edge of the granite hill that has been eroded more steeply than other parts, forming the beginning of a wave structure. It is similar to Wave Rock, but much smaller and without the overhang. A pocket of vegetation thrives in the shelter of the hollow, nourished by the rainfall that runs off the rock and collects below. Although not a spectacular tourist drawcard, Hidden Hollow is a pleasant spot worth the short walk for those who appreciate nature.

After visiting Hidden Hollow, those who are energetic can opt to go further and take a wander up Mt Walker. Although the rock isn't high, the surface is steep in places, and proper footwear is advised. A lengthy ramble will give you a healthy workout from the gradients, and you can enjoy the sense of scale of the surrounding countryside. From here, you might even be able to spot an eagle circling above.

The best time to visit the Hidden Hollow in Narembeen is between March to November when the weather is mild, and the skies are clear. During the summer months, the temperatures can get quite hot, making it uncomfortable for walking and exploring.
