Farmer Phil and his friendly Romney sheep
The vineyard is home to 100 friendly Romney sheep that are an integral part of Himmelsfeld's "clean green philosophy." Visitors can come up-close and feed the sheep, or simply relax and soak in the scenery that is overwhelming in every aspect.

Best time to visit
Himmelsfeld Vineyard is open year-round, however, the months from December to March, which is summer in New Zealand, are considered the best time to visit. The weather is sunny, warm, and ideal for outdoor wine-tasting and exploring the surroundings. April to November is known as the "off-season" when there are few visitors, and the winery is relatively quiet.
Getting there
Himmelsfeld Vineyard is approximately 23 kilometers south-west of Nelson, New Zealand. On arriving in Nelson, visitors can take a taxi, rent a car, or use the local bus service, which moments after Nelson heads towards Richmond, connecting to the Nelson to Motueka route.
