Description
The Horseshoe Falls Walk in Blue Mountains National Park is a picturesque 2km return walk that offers stunning waterfalls in a beautiful natural setting.
This family-friendly track is suitable for all ages and fitness levels, with the option to turn around after any of the five waterfalls along the way. The walk begins on Oaklands Road in Hazelbrook, and while there is no dedicated carpark, parking is available along the road. It is best to visit after rainfall for an extra adventurous experience, but be prepared for muddy conditions. Hiking or good walking shoes are recommended, and dogs on a leash are allowed on the track.
The path can be a bit confusing at times, but since this is a popular track, simply follow the path down towards the waterfalls. The first waterfall, known as Fairy Falls, can be reached in about 15 minutes and features a beautiful cave overhang. Continuing on, you will come across Horseshoe Falls, which is even more breathtaking. What sets this waterfall apart is the ability to walk behind it, providing great photo opportunities. At night, you can witness the thousands of glowworms that inhabit the area, but remember to turn off your lights and avoid shining them directly at the glowworms. Horseshoe Falls is especially enjoyable for children, as they can explore behind the waterfall, search for glowworms, and have fun splashing in the water.
The Horseshoe Falls Walk is enjoyable throughout the year, but it is particularly special after rainfall and during the warmer months between September and March. To find the starting point, Oaklands Road in Hazelbrook, it is recommended to use the All Trails app for navigation. Before embarking on any bushwalk,
