Description
The House of Correction is a cocktail bar located on the fourth floor of the Denyers Building on Swanston Street in Melbourne, Victoria.
The building has a colorful past, having been a medical supply store in the early 1900s and a manufacturer of death masks. The space has been completely redesigned from its previous fairy tale-themed predecessor, and upon exiting the lift onto level four, guests are greeted by a well-dressed host who offers a choice between a staircase up to the rooftop or a seat inside at House of Correction. The House of Correction is a small bar, but it is mighty in character. The bartenders are passionate about their craft and serve up a variety of cocktails. The venue has a prison theme, with features such as metal bars and jail cell doors. The space is dimly lit, with a cozy and intimate atmosphere. In terms of cuisine and drinks, the House of Correction offers a range of cocktails, including classics and house specialties. The bar also serves dumplings, which are convenient for a quick bite but are not considered the best in Melbourne. Guests can enjoy a range of cocktails and dumplings while surrounded by metal bars and jail cell doors.
