Hunter's Wines is a prestigious family-run winery located in the beautiful region of Marlborough, New Zealand.
Established in 1979 by the late Ernie Hunter, the winery is now headed by his daughter, Jane Hunter, who is famously known as ‘the First Lady of New Zealand wine.’
Jane Hunter is undoubtedly one of the most celebrated winemakers globally, with an impressive set of accolades, including O.B.E and a Companion to the New Zealand Order of Merit (CNZM). In 2013, she became the first woman to be inducted into the New Zealand Wine Hall of Fame. In 2016, Jane received the Wolf Blass AM Award in Australia, and the Wine Marlborough Lifetime Achievement Award.

Hunter's Wines offers a fantastic experience in its cellar door and wine shop that is open for wine tastings. Visitors can try eight different premium wines and enjoy the beautiful, tranquil gardens. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable about the wines, and they offer a fantastic explanation of every wine on the tasting menu.
When to Go
Hunter's Wines is open from Monday to Sunday, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, with no appointment necessary. The best time to go is during the summer, from December to February, when the winery comes alive with beautiful views of the surrounding vineyards.
