Illawong Walk in Kosciuszko National Park is a five-kilometre walk that offers visitors a unique opportunity to explore the beauty of the area.
Starting at Guthega Village, the walk takes you through the breathtaking Snowy River Valley, where you'll encounter a diverse array of flora and fauna, including alpine heath and towering snow gums, and even one of the oldest buildings in the park, Illawong Hut.
Illawong walk offers visitors plenty of opportunities to enjoy the natural beauty of the park. You can swim or take a refreshing dip in the cooling waters of Snowy River during hot weather or enjoy a scenic picnic surrounded by wildflowers, including alpine mint, billy buttons, and native yam daisies. The area is also perfect for birdwatching, so make sure to bring your binoculars.
Illawong Walk is open year-round, but the best time to visit depends on what you want to see and do. During spring, you can see the wildflowers in bloom, while autumn offers visitors stunning foliage colors. Summer is a great time to take a dip in Snowy River, and winter provides a unique opportunity for snowshoeing or cross-country skiing.
