Description
Iluka Break Wall in Iluka was built to stabilize the bar for the ocean fleet and has become a popular spot for locals and visitors.
It offers stunning views of nearby Yamba, and visitors are recommended to look down and spot what's happening in the waves. Legend has it that dolphins love following trawlers for an easy feed, so keep your eyes peeled for these playful creatures. The recent refurbishments of the wall have repaired years of wave pounding, and on calm days, visitors can walk to the end of the structure while keeping an eye on the crashing waves. The wall is also an ideal spot for fishing in the protected waters. Additionally, the creation of the wall has resulted in producing an impressive wave for surfers. Iluka is a year-round destination, but the best time to visit the break wall is during the summer months from December to February. Iluka is easily accessible from major cities along the East Coast, with the closest airport being Grafton, a 45-minute drive away. Visitors can also drive to Iluka from cities like Sydney, which takes approximately 7-8 hours. The break wall is within walking distance from the town, making it easy to reach.
