Description
Ka Ka Mundi is a remote section of Carnarvon National Park located in Springsure, Queensland, Australia.
The region is known for its undulating country and sandstone cliffs, offering over 30km of breathtaking sandstone escarpments and plateaus. These sandstones were formed over 180 million years ago in freshwater lakes and streams, later covered by basaltic lava that eroded over time. The area also holds reminders of early European history, with old cattle yards near some of the springs. Visitors can enjoy solitude and seclusion at peaceful camping sites beside Bunbuncundoo Springs, surrounded by colored sandstone cliffs. The best time to visit Ka Ka Mundi is between April to September, during the cooler months with temperatures ranging from 10-25 degrees Celsius. Accessible only by 4WD vehicles, the most direct routes are via the Great Dividing Range or the Peak Downs Highway newline.
