The Kalamunda Chamber of Commerce is inviting tourists to Experience Kalamunda with a visit to the Kalamunda Farmers Market. The Kalamunda Farmers Market is a unique experience enabling shoppers to buy direct from the farmer, grower or producer in the Perth hills.

Each Sunday the Central Mall in Kalamunda comes alive, with fresh local produce, organic breads, local jams and conserves, fudge, eggs, meat and seafood. However it is those little extras that make the Kalamunda Farmers Market truly unique. The entertainment, Celebrity Chefs, authentic foods, fresh squeezed juices, beautiful scenery and that friendly village atmosphere that you simply cannot escape.

The drive to Kalamunda is just as divine, with the wildflowers in full bloom, the country scenery is simply picturesque. Take a stop off at Lions Lookout, at the top of Welshpool Road, or the Zig Zag trail in Gooseberry Hill.

Kalamunda is a haven for locals and tourists alike. Situated only 24 kilometers from the Perth CBD, the name Kalamunda comes from local Aboriginal words Cala (home) and Munnda (forest). Thus Kalamunda means “A home in the forest.’
Whilst visiting the region tourists are encouraged to take advantage of the unique village shopping in Haynes Street, as well as the many cafés, and restaurants located throughout the region, take a trip through the Bickley Carmel Valley wine region, orchards and numerous National Parks including Lesmurdie Falls. The falls are best seen in August and September following heavy winter rains.

The region is also home to the Perth Observatory, the Munda Biddi Trail and the Northern Terminus of the Bibblumun Track, Western Australia's only long-distance walking trail. It runs a distance of 963 km. The Kalamunda Farmers Market operates from 8am till 1pm every Sunday morning in the Central Mall, Kalamunda. To find out the latest details on the Market, stall holders, available produce and all the latest news and announcements go to  www.kalamundachamber.com.au. The Farmers Market is an initiative of the Kalamunda Chamber of Commerce and is supported by the Shire of Kalamunda.

Shoppers have been delighting in the quaint medieval atmosphere of the Kalamunda Farmers Market for eight months now as the market has grown from strength to strength.  With over 30 stalls on an average week and an array of fresh produce, including asparagus, snow peas, beans, organic breads, local jams and conserves, pickles, fudge, eggs, meat and seafood, the market provides a fresh local option for consumers wanting farm fresh produce from local producers. Lesmurdie Resident Chrissie Whitfield said, “I think the Farmers Market is still an undiscovered gem. I have been attending for the last few weekends and cant believe the value and price.”

“I am a mother of 4 and value means everything these days. Last Sunday I picked up a large gourmet lettuce for a dollar, a large bag of baby English spinach leaves for $2.00, 1kg of Carrots for $1.00, an Avocado for 50c, Plums for $2 a bucket and peaches for $3 a kilo and a range of great other goodies, including the sweetest strawberries I have tried this season.

I think the best thing for me is that the produce seems to last for much longer than when I buy it from the shop. It also tastes fresher. I am definitely hooked and will be going each week from now on."
