Description
The Kalumburu Road is a scenic unsealed road stretching 267 kilometers from the Gibb River Road to the coast where the Aboriginal community of Kalumburu is situated, and also provides access to the breathtaking Mitchell Falls.
This road is an adventure in itself, through a remote area of Western Australia's Kimberley region, and can be accessed using a four-wheel-drive vehicle.
The Kalumburu Road runs north from Gibb River Road, an intersection that is about 250 kilometers from Kununurra. Therefore, visitors can quickly access the Kalumburu Road via Gibb River Road, a large and naturally beautiful national park with a variety of facilities. The road to Kalumburu takes you through vast, open plains and rugged terrain, providing a picturesque view of the Mitchell Plateau, Mitchell Falls, and the surrounding wilderness.
As a remote area of Western Australia, facilities along the Kalumburu Road are limited. Therefore, it's best to carry your supplies and essentials like food, water, fuel, and first aid kits. It is also important to have a reliable four-wheel-drive vehicle to navigate through the unsealed road.
