Description
Karlamilyi National Park is the largest national park in Western Australia, located in the Pilbara region.
It was initially known as Rudall River National Park but was renamed in 2008 to acknowledge the traditional owners of the area. The park features a diverse landscape, including dune fields, tablelands, a river/creek system, alluvial formations, saline lakes, and palaeodrainage lines. It is an A Class Reserve and is known for maintaining ongoing geomorphic and ecological processes. The park is situated on Martu country and is home to two Aboriginal communities, Parnngurr and Punmu. Access to the park is best through the Rudall River Road, and visitors should be aware that there are no ranger facilities within the park. It is recommended to stock up on supplies before visiting, although some services are available at Parnngurr. With its unique landscapes, cultural heritage, and rich history, Karlamilyi National Park is a must-visit destination in Western Australia.
