Kayaking enthusiasts will find Upper Tuross River and Bumbo Lake Bodalla to be a perfect destination.
Launch into shallow water at Snake Flat Reserve on Bumbo Road and paddle up river to Silo Farm Bridge, Comerang Road, landing on the western side of the bridge to get started on an adventurous 11.4 kilometre one-way trip.
As you paddle along, the river is surrounded by stunning natural landscapes that offer a haven for bird-lovers and nature enthusiasts. The calm and serene environment is perfect for spotting local wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, and platypuses in their natural habitats.
For a shorter paddle, set out on an 11 kilometre journey by launching into Snake Flat Reserve, up the estuary and into Bumbo Lake. If time permits, circumnavigate the lake and explore Bumbo Creek, a perfect chance to experience the natural beauty of this region.
The ideal time for kayaking is between November and April when the weather is warm and suitable for water activities.
To get to Snake Flat Reserve from the Princes Highway, turn west onto Bumbo Road and travel 1km down the road until you see a cattle grid and a yellow "no camping" sign, which identifies the entrance to Snake Flat Reserve on your left. From here, paddle your way up the stunning Upper Tuross river system.
