Description

Kelly Hill Caves Karatta is a must-visit destination in Kangaroo Island's Kelly Hill Conservation Park.

Accessible only through guided tours, visitors can explore the fascinating geological and historical features of the underground caves.

During the guided tours, visitors can witness the rich formations of stalactites, stalagmites, and helictites. They will also learn about the cultural significance of the caves to the indigenous Kaurna people and the unique ecology of the caves. The tours also provide insights into the geological formation of the cave system and the development of limestone over millions of years.

The Kelly Hill Conservation Park and caves system are set to reopen in April 2023 after refurbishments following the 2020 January bushfire. Guided tours are available on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays to facilitate visits during the rebuilding period.

To reach the Kelly Hill Conservation Park, visitors can drive about an hour southwest of Kingscote, covering approximately 48 kilometers via the Playford Hwy and the South Coast Road. Alternatively, authorized tour operators can provide transportation services from accommodations on the island.

Join the guided tour of Kangaroo Island's Kelly Hill Caves to experience the magic of the underground world and embrace the adventure.
