Description
Kevin Singer is a metalwork and sculpture artist.
Previously a clinical anatomist, Kevin's inspiration stems from the timeless Japanese aesthetic of elegant simplicity. From stone walls, Torii gates, concrete/steel Yukimi lanterns, Bonsai trees, mechanical tensegrity structures, to intricate steel hands used to support rotating spheres, he is not daunted by scope or complexity. His philosophy is: “If I can sketch it, I can create it”. He emulates the human skeleton using industrial steel, set to a functional posture, to ‘animate the inanimate’. As a kid he built things, a four level treehouse, a go-kart, workshop, furniture. In retirement, he works with the medium of steel and welding. Kevin Singer will be participating in the 2021 Margaret River Region Open Studios. More information on studio opening hours can be found here: https://www.mrropenstudios.com.au/member
