Kiandra Buchanan

Kiandra Buchanan is an Emerging Australian Artist originally from Naarm (Melbourne) who now calls Wadandi Boodja (Margaret River) home.

Since completing her multidisciplinary Fine Arts education she's gravitated towards painting, predominantly using Oil Paint in the Alla Prima method, as well as Gouache on occasion.

Buchanan’s focus is Still Life, though her work also covers landscape and the odd figurative work. She likes to work with open compositions, light that sparkles and a subdued and modern palette with painterly brushwork.

The work speaks of softness, the beauty of the everyday and finding a refreshed perspective amongst the ordinary. Much of the work is an observation of an emotional state of being and a story told through the attachment and meaning we give to objects. Buchanan paints how it feels and her practice continues to evolve.
