Kingsdale Wines

Kingsdale established their boutique winery, vineyard and cellar door, situated only a 5 minutes drive from the historic city of Goulburn.

Kingsdale Wines is located about a 2 hour drive south of Sydney and a 1 hour drive north of Canberra. The property is 680 m above sea level and enjoys a fresh mountain climate with mild summers and cool winters. They provide cellar door tastings, winery inspections when staff is available, and lots of information about the wine making process.

Although not an established wine area the Goulburn region is ideally suited to the growing of cool climate wine grapes. They were looking for a cool climate area with limestone soils, as they believe this combination is the best for producing the style of wines they like, and this is what they found only 7 kilometers from the centre of the Goulburn on the Crookwell Road. Located between the Canberra and the Southern Highland Geographical Indicator regions, the climate more closely resembles that of Canberra, as it is less humid than the Southern Highlands. There are a number of small wineries and grape growers in the district. Although currently there are too few to apply to become an officially recognised wine GI region, they have combined to form the Merino Country Vignerons Association.
