Description

Kirra Beach in Coolangatta, Australia is a popular travel destination known for its laid-back charm and world-famous surfing spots.

The beach is located on the Queensland/New South Wales border and is within walking distance of the famous Kirra Beach. Accommodation options include powered sites for caravans and camper vans, unpowered sites for camping, lakefront villas, and lodgings for budget-conscious travellers.

One of the main attractions of Kirra Beach is surfing. Kirra Point separates Kirra Beach to the north and Coolangatta Beach to the south and is the northern break of the famous ‘Superbank’ - one of the longest right-handers in the world. Kirra is also known as Australia's 'spiritual home of surfing'. Experienced surfers can enjoy the big swell and world-class break at Kirra Point. The Kirra Surf Life Saving Club, housed in the heritage-listed Kirra Beach Pavilion, is also a popular spot for watching surfers and enjoying the beach.

Visitors can also enjoy a stroll along the Gold Coast Oceanway for pedestrians and cyclists, which curves around the headland passing beside the beach, the shelter, and the club. The beach attracts international visitors, local runners, families, and a few dogs and prams. After a run, visitors can join the locals for a coffee at the Surf Club.

The best time to visit Kirra Beach is during the summer months of December to February when the weather is warm and sunny. Lifeguards patrol the beach during certain times.
