Description
Meeting in the City of Wanneroo, Knit and Natter is a group of ladies who get together to knit and crochet much needed items for many local charities while also enjoying a natter and a cuppa.
Established in 2011 with around 6 members, the groups membership has grown to about 130 knitters and crocheters. Around 60 of Knit and Natter
s members meet at the Pearsall Hocking Community Centre every Tuesday morning and the first Sunday afternoon of every month to bring in their completed items, collect more yarn and do even more knitting and crochet. So not only are they helping out many WA charities, but they are also providing a social outlet for their many members. Through this, many firm friendships have been built. A wide range of items including blankets, beanies, scarves, shawls, jumpers, socks, gloves, chemo caps, premmie baby jackets, toys, and many other items are all knitted and crocheted with love and care by the Knit and Natter members. These are all donated to WA charities across metro and regional WA. Some of the types of charities benefiting from these donations are cancer units; hospitals; premature baby groups; youth organisations; fostering groups; aged care facilities; Aboriginal communities; women's refuges; and animal shelters. They always welcome new members and if you cannot knit or crochet, there is always someone available to teach you.
