Nestling in the rural heartland of the Australia’s South West, historic Kojonup is more than just a gateway to the beautiful South. Kojonup is also ideal location for an activity holiday with facilities to cater for just about every sport.

Whatever you choose to do during your visit you will never be far away from the town’s long and proud history, stretching back centuries to when nomadic Aborigines were first attracted to the area by fresh water spring and abundance of game. Europeans first settled and in 1837 as a military outpost with its own Military Barracks, built in 1845. Even the name Kojonup has a historic significance, referring to the “Kodja’ or stone axe made by the Aborigines from the local stone of the area

Kojonup Visitors centr provides visitors with a unique and total visitor experience, challenging them to let their senses work overtime as they experience the story of the people of Kojonup today their relationship and care of the land over time. The district’s evolution from ancient times is captured in multi media elements and fully interactive displays. Displays include an actual school bus and farm ute, a shearing shed, Noongar Story circle, kitchen and a replica reserve house, where, under government policy, local aborigines lived from the mid 1930s to 1970.

Explore Australia’s wonderful heritage of rose growing. While seeking shade under one of the rustic pergolas, share the poignant stories of the three women, Yoondi the Noongar, Elizabeth the English and Maria the Italian, set into the paths and furnishings of the maze.
