Kuniya Walk

The Kuniya Walk in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is a short trek that runs from the Kuniya carpark to Mutitjulu Waterhole.

The waterhole is one of the few permanent water sources around Uluru and is culturally significant. Visitors can spot bush foods and enjoy the lush and shady surroundings.

The Kuniya walk unveils the creation story of Kuniya, the woma python woman, and Liru, the poisonous brown snake man. The walk features caves protected by Kuniya that are still used by Anangu. Mutitjulu Waterhole offers a serene atmosphere and a view of the surrounding landscape.

It is best to take the Kuniya walk when it's raining to witness the magical waterfalls and in warmer months to spot various bird species. The waterhole and nearby rock art cave provide relief from the heat during summer.

The Kuniya Walk is located at the Kuniya carpark in Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park. It is best to visit during sunrise, sunset, or lunchtime to avoid large crowds.

Photographers can capture magnificent rock formations using a wide-angle lens and take pictures of Mutitjulu Waterhole when the sun hits it directly around lunchtime.

The site is open and wheelchair accessible, with water facilities available, but no public toilets.
