Description

Lady Robinsons Beach, located on the western shore of Botany Bay in Sydney, Australia, is a stunning stretch of beach.

Originally known as Seven Mile Beach, it was renamed after the wife of the then Governor, Sir Hercules Robinson. The beach serves as the eastern boundary for various areas, including the St George District and the Municipality of Rockdale.

Lady Robinsons Beach was formed through the erosion of the Hawkesbury sandstone. The sand and dunes of the beach are pale yellow, almost white in some parts, making it the whitest beach in the Sydney area. The beach is limited by the Wianamatta shale to the north and south, which has been carved by rivers and their tributaries. The marshes and mangroves in this area caused difficulties for nearby suburbs in the early settlement years. Lady Robinsons Beach is part of the Sydney Basin, consisting of these two types of rock.

The beach is home to several beautiful and well-known beaches, including Kyeemagh Beach Baths, Brighton-Le-Sands Beach, Kite Beach in Monterey, Ramsgate Beach, and Dolls Point Beach.

The underwater sand flats adjacent to the beach were once inhabited by various mollusk species. Shells found on the beach after this event belonged to mollusks from the mudflats of the Georges River and southern part of Botany Bay.

Lady Robinsons Beach has a rich history. The settlements near the beach were given the name of Lady Robinson's Beach as their postal address. The beach has also been the site of several incidents, including drownings and near-drownings.
