Lake Boga

Lake Boga is a popular destination for history and water sports enthusiasts.

Located near Swan Hill in The Mallee region of Victoria, Australia, this freshwater, endorheic lake has a surface area of 940 hectares and a capacity of 37,794 megalitres. During World War II, it served as a repair and service depot for flying boats at the Lake Boga Flying Boat Base. Today, it attracts visitors who enjoy water sports and are interested in its history.

Visitors to Lake Boga can engage in various activities centered around the lake. They can swim in the lake or rent a kayak from the Lake Boga Caravan Park for $10 an hour. Boating, waterskiing, and stand-up paddleboarding are also popular water sports on Lake Boga. Additionally, the Lake Boga Flying Boat Museum is a must-visit attraction. It showcases the history of the Lake Boga Flying Boat Base, featuring a collection of Catalina flying boats and other aircraft, as well as exhibits on the base's role in World War II. The Flying Boat Museum Cenotaph, a monument to the servicemen who served at the base during the war, can also be seen.

To reach Lake Boga, visitors can drive from Melbourne, which is approximately a 3.5-hour drive away. Alternatively, they can fly into Swan Hill Regional Airport and rent a car for the approximately 20-minute drive to Lake Boga.
