Lake Mountain Summit Walk Marysville is a 4-kilometre return walk in Yarra Ranges National Park.
It offers breathtaking views of the Victorian Alps, Melbourne, and the Great Dividing Range. The hike takes you through snowgum woodland and provides opportunities to appreciate the views.
The trailhead is located at the Lake Mountain Alpine Resort Village Car Park. Follow the wide track uphill for 200 metres before it levels out to a gentle incline towards the summit. At the summit, enjoy panoramic views of the Victorian Alps, Melbourne, and the Great Dividing Range. Head east to the Alps Lookout for more photo opportunities. Pass through an alpine bog and over granite rock faces covered with lichens and mosses. Reach the junction with the Snowy Hill track, where Sherlocks lookout is just 100 metres away. Continue to Taggerty Valley View and Gerraty's car park via the summit.
The Lake Mountain Summit Walk Marysville is best visited in summer to avoid icy and dangerous conditions in winter.
To get there, reach the Lake Mountain Alpine Resort Village Car Park located at the entrance of the resort off Lake Mountain Road. From Melbourne, take the Maroondah Highway towards Healesville, then take the B300 to Marysville. Turn right onto Falls Road and continue until you see the signs for Lake Mountain Alpine Resort.
