Description
Lake Nillahcootie is a manmade reservoir located in Victoria, Australia, near Mansfield in the Alpine region. The dam that creates the lake was designed and constructed in 1967 by the State Rivers and Water Supply Commission of Victoria. It is a rock and earth-fill embankment dam with a height of 34 meters (112ft) and a wall made up of 298 thousand cubic meters (10.5×10^6 cu ft) of rock and earth. It also has a secondary spillway for severe floods.
Lake Nillahcootie offers recreational activities such as water-skiing during the summer. It is a popular destination for tourists, nature lovers, and photographers due to its serene environment. The name Nillahcootie is of Indian origin and is believed to mean "Blue House."
