Lake Tyers State Park

Lake Tyers State Park is a natural reserve covering an area of about 7100 hectares.

It is located on Krauatungalung Country and is highly significant to the Gunaikurnai Traditional Owners due to its Aboriginal cultural heritage. The park offers activities such as bush camping, fishing, bushwalking, and forest drives through old-growth and temperate rainforest.

Safety regulations in the park include camping at least 20 meters away from waterways and avoiding camping near waterways during forecasted rain or storms. Visitors should also be cautious of parking or camping under large trees and avoid using rope swings. Active supervision of children near water is necessary, and lifejackets and flotation devices are recommended.

Campfires are allowed for cooking and warmth, except on days of Total Fire Ban. Safety measures include clearing a 3-meter area around the campfire, having an adult in attendance at all times, and having at least 10 liters of water available. Visitors must extinguish the fire with water and ensure it is cool before leaving. Firewood harvesting is regulated, and visitors are not allowed to cut standing trees or harvest fallen logs with hollows.

Chemical toilets are recommended for camping, and visitors should not empty them or other rubbish into public toilets or waterways. Dump points for chemical toilets and greywater are available at specific locations. Earth pit toilets are acceptable but must be at least 100 meters from any waterway. Toilet waste, including toilet paper, should be buried at least 15 cm deep.
