Description
In Larsen C human bodies constantly move as one, glacially slowly, like the ice itself. Inspired by a 10,000-year-old glacier in the Antarctic this a breathtaking work of art in movement.
‘Glacier or ‘ice shelf.’ That’s the scientific name of the huge, 10,000-year-old, immobile body of Larsen C water in Antarctica. Larsen C, twice the size of Wales, moves so slowly that it can’t be detected by the human senses. It's as if the pulse of its movement is absorbed by space and time.
In Larsen C human bodies constantly move to that same perpetual rhythm. Greek choreographer Christos Papadopoulos explores the universal patterns of change and the monumental shifts occurring around the world. Landscapes, bodies and sounds evolve and change, just like the ensemble of dancers. Their movements vibrate together with the lighting, set and music in a dreamlike sequence, progressively appearing as eerie as the polar landscape.
Watch closely. Feel immensely.
