Description
Lees Hotel, also known as the Pub with No Beer, is a landmark hotel located in Ingham, Queensland.
The hotel is recognized as the official Pub with No Beer made famous by Slim Dusty's song "A Pub with No Beer". The song was based on the poem "A Pub Without Beer" written by Ingham sugarcane farmer and poet Dan Sheahan in the Day Dawn Hotel, which is now known as Lees Hotel, in Ingham in 1943. The hotel underwent a million-dollar refurbishment in 2012 and now includes artifacts, photographic history, and memorabilia of Ingham's early days as well as a tribute to the song and poem that made it famous. Lees Hotel offers plain rooms in a pub-style motel above the hotel, with clean, comfortable, and budget-friendly accommodation. The rooms range from Single King rooms to Family-style rooms. The hotel also features an art deco restaurant, a beer garden, and slot machines. The restaurant serves a variety of cuisine and drinks, including pub classics like burgers, steaks, and schnitzels, as well as seafood, pasta, and salads. The beer garden is a popular spot for locals and visitors alike, and it offers a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a drink or a meal. Lees Hotel is located in the center of Ingham, making it easily accessible to visitors. The hotel is a popular destination for tourists who want to experience the history and culture of the area. The Pub with No Beer Festival was held in April 2013 at Lees to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the event.
