Lunchtime Concert: Mike Ford

Lunchtime Concert at Nelson Centre of Musical Arts.

Don’t miss this stunning performance by the current New Zealand “Champion of Champions” Brass soloist. Mike is the one of the most well-known and successful brass soloists in the New Zealand Brass band movement, with 16 national open Tenor Horn solo and 7 national Masters solo titles to his name.

In this lunchtime concert, he presents 5 traditional style “Air and Variation” solos, which were written to show off the virtuosity, tonal qualities and lyricism of the instrument.

Accompanied by Louis Lucas-Perry, Mike will present works by William Rimmer, Louis Langlois, John Hartmann, Arthur Remington and Jean-Baptiste Arban.
