Macarthur Park

Macarthur Park Camden is a historic and beautiful public park located in the heart of Camden.

It was gifted to the people of Camden by Mrs Elizabeth Macarthur-Onslow in 1905 and opened to the public in 1906. The park offers various areas for visitors to explore.

One of the park's notable features is its heritage rose garden, which showcases a diverse array of rose varieties. Visitors can enjoy the fragrant blooms while strolling along winding paths in the parkland.

The wisteria walk is another highlight of Macarthur Park Camden. During the spring months, this area is covered in colorful wisteria blooms, creating a stunning tunnel effect. It's a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll or capturing scenic photos.

The park is also home to Camden's War Memorial, known as the Cenotaph, which honors soldiers who served in World War One. Visitors can also admire the Faithfull-Anderson Fountain, an impressive piece of public art.

A shelter was built in 1913 in memory of Mrs Elizabeth Macarthur-Onslow, providing visitors with a place to rest and enjoy the park's beauty.

Macarthur Park Camden can be enjoyed year-round, but the best time to visit is during the spring months when the rose garden and wisteria walk are in full bloom.

To get to Macarthur Park Camden, visitors can take the M5 or Hume Highway by car and follow the signs to Camden. There is ample free parking available within the park. Alternatively, visitors can take a train to Camden Station and either walk or take a short taxi ride to the park.
