Description

MacKenzie Falls Zumsteins is a stunning trail located in Grampians National Park, Victoria, Australia.

It is the most popular waterfall in the park and attracts nature lovers, hikers, and photographers year-round. The trail is easily accessible from the MacKenzie Falls car park, with a steep staircase leading to the base of the waterfall. From there, the trail is flat with occasional stairs, stretching 1-1.5 km downstream to Fish Falls. After Fish Falls, it becomes an easy bush walk for less than 2.5 km to Zumsteins picnic area. The total length of the trail is around 3.5-4 km, slightly downhill when walked from MacKenzie Falls to Zumsteins.

The trail has minimal elevation, except for the steep staircase. It is considered easy in terms of fitness challenge, although it becomes more challenging after Fish Falls. Good hiking boots are recommended due to slippery areas. The trail is open year-round and is not dog-friendly. Swimming at MacKenzie Falls is prohibited and dangerous. Non-flushing toilets are available, but there is no drinking water on the trail, so visitors should bring their own.

There is a large car park with facilities for visitors. Camping or setting up campervans at MacKenzie Falls or Zumsteins picnic area is not allowed. The closest campsite is Smiths Mill, a few kilometers away. Accommodation options include BnB's and retreats in the area following Zumsteins picnic area on the way to Horsham. There are no food stalls on the trail, but Halls Gap, 30 minutes south of MacKenzie Falls, is the closest place to buy food and drinks. Horsham
