Explore the cultural heritage and natural beauty of Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park through the Mala Walk.
This walk follows the north-west side of Uluru and is suitable for all fitness levels. The Mala Walk is two kilometers long and takes approximately one and a half hours to complete. Wheelchair access is also available.
The Mala Walk provides a unique opportunity to experience the sheer vertical walls and profound peacefulness of Kantju Gorge. Along the way, you will come across many fine examples of Anangu rock art, which tells the stories of the traditional owners of the land. The walk is a great opportunity to learn about the cultural significance of Uluru and connect with its history.
The Mala Walk can be completed year-round, but it is best to avoid the midday heat during the hot summer months. The most pleasant times for the walk are April through September when the average temperature is around 20-25°C.
Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park is located in the Northern Territory, approximately 335 kilometers southwest of Alice Springs. The easiest way to get there is by flying into Ayers Rock Airport, which is just 20 minutes away from the park entrance. Once you arrive, you can access the Mala Walk via the Uluru base walk, which is also a must-see attraction in the park.
