Manaia Redoubt is a historical site located in the town of Manaia, in the South Taranaki District of New Zealand.
The town is situated on State Highway 45, making it easily accessible by car. Manaia is named after the former Maori chief of the district, Hukunui Manaia. Manaia is a small town with a population of just under 1,000 people. It is defined by Statistics New Zealand as a rural settlement and covers 2.55 km2 (0.98 sq mi). The town is very much a service town for the rich dairy farms nearby as well as the enormous commercial bakery. In the 1940s and 1950s, the number of dairy factories per kilometre of road was the highest in New Zealand.
