Description
Located at the end of Mangalore Road, just off the Goulburn Valley Highway, between Seymour and Shepparton, the Mangalore Fauna & Flora Reserve is a nature lover's paradise, spread across 78 hectares.
At a little over an hour and a half drive north of Melbourne, Victoria, it is an easily accessible and convenient day trip to escape the busy city life.
The reserve boasts a variety of flora, including native grevillias, acacias, orchids, daisies, lilies, grasses, and herbs that can be explored while walking the 2.6 km loop trail, which is generally considered an easy route. It's said to be a wildflower haven in spring with the native orchids, daisies, and lilies blooming. The Mangalore Fauna & Flora Reserve is also an excellent spot for bird watching with 156 species of birds spotted on eBird, including swift parrots, white-browed babblers, crested shrike-tits, white-bellied cuckooshrikes, brown treecreepers, dusky woodswallows, jacky winters, gang-gang cockatoo, Varied Sitella, a flock of White-winged Chough, Scarlet Robins, Eastern Yellow, and Flame, among many others.
The Mangalore Fauna & Flora Reserve is open year-round and is beautiful to visit anytime.
