Description
Mann River Nature Reserve is a protected preserve located on the Northern Tablelands in New South Wales, Australia.
It covers a vast area of 7,128 hectares and offers travelers a chance to disconnect from the world and immerse themselves in the wilderness. The reserve is situated east of Glen Innes, west of Grafton, and northeast of Armidale.
The reserve is named after the Mann River, which runs through it. Its geography is diverse, with mountainous terrain due to its location in the Great Dividing Range. Creeks and rivers, including the Mann River, flow through the lush forests of the reserve. The vegetation is mainly composed of native Australian trees, and the reserve is home to various wildlife species. The highest point in the reserve is Tommys Rock Lookout, standing at 1,015 meters above sea level.
The region around Mann River was historically important for its rich natural resources, attracting loggers in the 1840s. To protect this heritage, the reserve was established in 1985 and is currently managed by the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service.
While less well-known than other national parks in Australia, Mann River Nature Reserve offers opportunities for adventurous spirits who appreciate the beauty of nature. Visitors can engage in peaceful activities such as nature walks and fishing, with the main attraction being the magnificent Mann River. The reserve also provides camping facilities for those who want to fully immerse themselves in the environment. It is an ideal place for those seeking to disconnect from the world and reconnect with nature.
