Description
Mapleton Falls National Park is a stunning natural wonder situated near the scenic town of Mapleton on the Blackall Range. Approximately 95 kilometres north of Brisbane, this national park is easily accessible and attracts visitors from all over the world. An enchanting feature of the park is the 120-metre (390 ft) tall waterfall cascade of Pencil Creek, known as the Mapleton Falls, which is sure to mesmerize any onlooker.
The falls were first declared a forest reserve in 1938 and later, in 1973, were elevated to the status of a national park.
One of the main attractions in the park is "Section 2 of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland Great Walk" - A challenging and rugged walking trail that passes through the park. This trail is considered as one of the most spectacular walking tracks in the country and a must-do for the avid hikers. There are several other smaller walks in the park that are suitable for visitors of all skill levels.
