Minyon Grass picnic area, located on the Eastern edge of Nightcap National Park and close to Lismore, provides visitors with stunning views of cascading waterfalls and breathtaking surrounding forests.

Unlike the Minyon Falls lookout - a popular destination in the area - Minyon Grass picnic area is far quieter, making it perfect for wildlife and bird watching enthusiasts.

At Minyon Grass picnic area, visitors can take in the stunning scenery by relaxing at the picnic tables and enjoying a leisurely lunch. During your meal, keep an eye out for soaring peregrine falcons in the sky or brush turkeys and Albert's lyrebirds on the forest floor. Male Albert’s lyrebirds have unique, ribbon-like tail plumes, which make these birds an especially captivating sight. You might even hear the threatened Fleay's barred frog’s call while you relax.

For visitors who are feeling more adventurous, a walk along the Minyon Falls walking track is a must-do experience. Here, visitors can get closer to the waterfalls while enjoying the beautiful natural surroundings. The pools located at the base of Minyon Falls are a great spot for a refreshing swim on a hot summer day.

The best time to visit Minyon Grass picnic area is from September to November as the summer heat has not yet arrived, and the park is lush and green from the spring rains. Visitors can access Minyon Grass picnic area via any mode of transport. From Lismore, travel north along Dunoon Road for approximately 20km before reaching the sealed Minyon Drive. Visitors will follow this road for 7km, through beautiful rainforest
