Description
Monument Park Vic is a unique sculpture park located on NewQuay Promenade.
The park came into being as a result of a collaborative project involving MAB Corporation, artist Callum Morton, McBride Charles Ryan Architects, Oculus Landscape Architects, City of Melbourne, and Places Victoria. The sculpture park is unlike any other in Melbourne due to its distinctive design and interactive experience.
Callum Morton, the artist behind this creation, drew inspiration from scattered monuments in Melbourne's CBD and the Hoddle grid. The design of the park involves taking these fabric monuments and covering them with a 'concrete carpet.' The carpet is then peeled back to showcase impressive bursts of color and elaborate landscaping.
As you step into Monument Park Vic, you will be fascinated by the artistic and cultural display of the space. The park has transformed the older monuments into fresh and contemporary sculptures. Take a moment to test your memory and recognize the famous Melbourne monuments that have taken on new forms.
After a leisurely stroll, you can take a break at one of the nearby cafes offering an incredible view of the harbor and city skyline. Sip on a hot cup of coffee, indulge in a delicious macaroon or enjoy some refreshing ice cream. The variety of options will leave you spoilt for choice.
Art enthusiasts will be delighted with what Monument Park Vic has to offer. Continue your stroll along NewQuay Promenade to explore other popular artworks such as 'Silence' and 'Meeting 1'.
