Description
Morton National Park is a vast 199,745-hectare (493,580-acre) national park located in the Southern Highlands, South Coast, and Illawarra regions of New South Wales, Australia.
Managed by the National Parks & Wildlife Service, the park features a flat plateau dissected by steep gorges. Its boundaries extend from Bundanoon south to the west of Ulladulla, covering a section of the Budawang Range. Notable attractions include Fitzroy Falls, Belmore Falls, Pigeon House Mountain, and Mount Tianjara. The park is rich in history, established in 1938 and named after Mark Morton, a state legislative assembly member. It is estimated to have been inhabited by the Aboriginal people almost 20,000 years ago, with the Yuin people attaching great importance to the park and its surrounding areas. With stunning waterfalls, picturesque gorges, and lush forests, Morton National Park offers a paradise for nature enthusiasts.
