Located less than four kilometers from Cooma township, the Mount Gladstone Lookout and Nature Reserve boasts 125 hectares of native bushland.
Visitors can access two viewing platforms that offer magnificent views of the Monaro Plains and the Snowy Mountains peaks.
The Mount Gladstone Nature Reserve is a popular spot for walkers and mountain bike riding. Visitors can take leisurely strolls along the well-marked trails, or for a more challenging escapade, take on the Mount Gladstone Summit Walk. Experienced hikers can hike along the historic Port Phillip Trail that leads to the summit of Mount Gladstone.
The flora and fauna in the reserve is diverse and includes several species of eucalyptus trees, wattles, and heaths. The reserve is also a sanctuary for wildlife such as kangaroos, wallabies, reptiles, and bird species, including the superb parrot and the wedge-tailed eagle.
Visitors can enjoy a picnic or a barbecue in the serene surroundings of the reserve. Picnic tables, toilets, and barbecue facilities are available for public use. It's a perfect spot to sit back and relax while taking in the stunning views of the Snowy Mountains and the Monaro Plains.
Mount Gladstone Cooma is open for visitors throughout the year, and each season offers its unique charm. In spring, the reserve explodes with vibrant colors as wildflowers bloom, making it an ideal time for nature lovers. Autumn is another beautiful season, with mild climate and beautiful red and yellow foliage, making it the perfect time for couples and families to visit.
Maps are available at the Cooma Visitors Centre. Visitors can drive, bike or walk along Bobundara Road, and easily follow the signs to access the Mount Gladstone Nature Reserve
