For visitors to the Queanbeyan region who are keen hikers and nature lovers, Mount Jerrabomberra Lookout and Walking Track is a must-visit destination that offers spectacular views and an unforgettable hiking experience.
The track is located off Halloran Drive, Jerrabomberra, and can be accessed via the Trailhead Car Park. The track is well marked and easy to navigate, and there is a water bubbler near the upper water tanks, which is a rarity on hiking trails in the region.
The walk up to the Mount Jerrabomberra summit is relatively short and easy. On the way up, take a moment to appreciate the lush greenery that surrounds you, and as you reach the summit, enjoy the stunning panoramic views of Queanbeyan city. Not only will you be able to pinpoint all the historic landmarks on the map from the lookout, but you’ll also enjoy views of Black Mountain, Mount Ainslie, Mount Majura, and the distant Brindabellas. One aspect of this walk that makes it truly remarkable is the scenery on the way back down, making it a fantastic hike both uphill and down.
Mount Jerrabomberra Lookout and Walking Track can be visited all year round, though the summer months can be quite hot, and the winter months can be chilly. The best time to go is in the cooler months, preferably during the early morning or late afternoon when the temperature is mild, and the light is perfect for photography.
