Mount Misery Walk and Nature Reserve

Mount Misery is a 690-meter peak in southern Tasmania, overlooking the town of Huonville.

It divides the localities of Lucaston, Ranelagh, and Judbury, and is within the Huon Valley watershed. The mountain is covered in tall wet eucalyptus forest on its southern slopes, with small patches of rainforest, while the northern slopes have dry Eucalyptus tenuiramis and open grassland. The forest canopy reaches 20-30 meters, with some trees growing as tall as 50-70 meters.

The Mount Misery Walk and Nature Reserve can be accessed via a 5-kilometer track that takes approximately three hours to complete. The track passes through rainforest and subalpine heathland, leading to boulders at the summit. Along the route, there are thirty interpretative panels providing insights into the area's Aboriginal history and environmental issues. The walk is free of charge and begins at the car park and track head located at the Huon Bush Retreats in Ranelagh.
