Description
Welcome to the Mudgee Observatory! Located just outside Mudgee, New South Wales, Australia (149 deg E, 32 deg S), the observatory was built by John, a seasoned astronomer with 45 years of experience.
We invite the general public, school groups, and organized tours to come and explore the night skies. Fifteen minutes away from the town lights and the Ulan mines, you can experience the night sky as it was meant to be.
At the observatory, you can enjoy an entertaining and educational experience. Check out the theater and flat screen planetarium for feature on the night sky and the Sun, as well as space missions. You can also take part in conducted tours of the night sky. Telescopes and binoculars are available for visitors to use. Our observatory shop sells coffee, cold drinks, confectionery, books on astronomy and other items.
Our session times change with the season, so please check our website for more information. Recently, a newly named Minor Planet (Asteroid) Vetter was discovered - be sure to check it out this month!
