Description
Located in Cairns, Munro Martin Parklands (MMP) is a premier outdoor performance and gathering space.
Since its redevelopment and reopening in August 2016, the parklands have become a favourite destination for locals and visitors alike to experience the arts against a tropical backdrop. MMP offers visitors a unique opportunity to experience ballet, contemporary music, new circus, and Christmas pantomimes. The green proscenium stage, which is the largest of its kind in Australia, provides the perfect venue for watching or performing any of these creative performances under an open tropical sky. The parklands are adorned with stunning tropical plantings that create a tranquil and serene environment to enjoy with your friends and family. Visitors can enjoy a relaxing picnic with loved ones amidst the lush greenery or go for a creative walk while exploring the vine-covered pergolas and arbours. The park is open seven days a week, from 8am to 6pm, except for ticketed event days. Visitors should note that the gates are locked when the park is closed. The best time to visit the park is during periods of good weather. Although, performances are typically held irrespective of weather conditions. Getting to MMP is easy, as it is centrally located in the Cairns CBD, close to the main shopping precinct. There are ample opportunities to drive, walk or bike to the park. Public transport options include bus or taxi. For your convenience, event information and general updates are available on the Munro Martin Parklands Facebook page. With all that Munro Martin Parklands Cairns has to offer, a visit to the city is incomplete without a visit to this unique destination.
