Description
The sunken MV Karma is a superb wreck dive site located off the coast of Bundaberg.
It was a 42 metre long gravel barge that sank in December 2003, and today it rests in 26 metres of water. This wreck is one of the most sought after diving sites in Queensland because of its stunning underwater environment.
The MV Karma wreck is a world-renowned diving destination that offers an extraordinary experience to explore the varied sections of the ship. Divers of all expertise levels can delve into this ship and marvel at its impressive layout from the massive crane boom, engine room, cabins, and two-level bridge structure, to its massive hold. Aside from the ship’s intricate design, its marine environment is the most spectacular feature of the dive. The area is a rich habitat of a dazzling array of sea creatures. You can find schools of barracudas, trevally, snappers, and batfish swimming around the ship. The site is also a haven of various species of tropical reef fish, sizable gropers, stingrays, wobbegongs, sea snakes, turtles, and octopuses. Diving and exploring this shipwreck is truly an exceptional experience that will take your breath away.
The MV Karma wreck is accessible year-round, but the ideal time to visit is during the summer months between December and February when the waters are more transparent, and visibility is generally better.
