Nanguluwurr Rock Art Site and Walk Jabiru is a must-visit destination in Kakadu National Park.
It offers easy to moderate grade walks and showcases Aboriginal rock art.
The 3.4-kilometre round trip walk at Nanguluwurr is perfect for exploring the diverse range of Aboriginal rock art on display. Visitors can admire various subjects and styles, from hand stencils to dynamic figures with spears and boomerangs. They can also see representations of Namandi spirits and mythical figures, including Alkajko, a female spirit with four arms. Additionally, there is a surprise painting of a two-masted sailing ship with a trailing dinghy, showcasing contact art.
This allows visitors to avoid the heat and humidity of the Wet season, which occurs from October to April.
To reach Nanguluwurr Rock Art Site and Walk Jabiru, visitors can drive in their own vehicles or choose a guided tour option. The site is located 50 kilometres from Jabiru, and the journey takes approximately 45 minutes.
It's important to note that an entry fee is required to enter Kakadu National Park. To save time, visitors can purchase their Kakadu park pass online before their trip.
