The National Army Museum (Maori: Te Mata Toa) is a fortress-looking museum located on State Highway One, on the southern side of the small military town of Waiouru.
It is a must-visit destination for military history enthusiasts and anyone interested in the New Zealand Army. The museum is easily accessible by car and took the 2nd Field Squadron of the Royal New Zealand Engineers (RNZE) 276 days to build, opening in October 1978.
