Description
The Newstead Community Garden aims to connect the community through gardening, sustainability, and educational activities.
It is based on organic, biodynamic, and permaculture principles to create a beautiful and welcoming space while promoting local food security.
The garden has a mix of individual and communal plots, raised beds, herb beds, and fruit trees. Individual plotholders have their own plot but also share communal areas. Garden supporters are kept updated and receive excess produce. The garden also hosts communal events, including Garden Open Day.
Join the Garden Open Day on Sunday, 3rd April from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Immerse yourself in the beauty and serenity of the garden in the autumn light while enjoying a cup of coffee/tea and a slice of homemade cake. You can purchase organically grown, open-pollinated seedlings, fresh garden produce, and worms for your autumn-winter vegetable garden. Also, buy a ticket in the ‘Chook’ raffle and support the garden's quest to bring chickens into the garden. Take a stroll through the garden, discover the communal practices, and chat with fellow gardeners.
The Newstead Community Garden is located in Newstead. Visitors can park their cars near the garden. The easiest way to get there would be by car or bicycle newline.
