Description
The North Mole Lighthouse is a historic icon located at the entrance to Fremantle Harbour.
Designed by Charles Yelverton O'Connor, it has been guiding seafarers since 1906 and is the last of its kind in the area. The lighthouse emits a red light that can be seen for 11 miles, marking the westernmost point of the harbour. Made of cast iron and painted in a bright red hue, the 15-meter tower is adorned with classical decorations. It is easily accessible from North Mole Drive and offers splendid views of the harbour, making it a popular spot for fishing, yacht racing, and birdwatching. With its 'indicative place' status on the register of the National Estate, the North Mole Lighthouse holds significant historic value and attracts many visitors.
