Description

Penola Conservation Park is a protected area located in Monbulla, South Australia.

It covers an area of 2.27 square kilometers and showcases a stranded dune and swale terrain found in the lower south-east of the state.

The park was previously used for grazing and was declared a protected area in 1970. It was initially named Penola National Park but was later renamed Penola Conservation Park in 1972.

Located approximately 329 kilometers southeast of Adelaide, the park allows occasional bush camping and is open to supervised local residents and school groups.

Penola Conservation Park is known for its diverse ecosystems, including consolidated calcarenite dunes, a wetland called Green Swamp, and river red gum flats. The park is rich in flora and fauna, with different vegetation associations and a variety of animal species.
